All Greek Islands

Welcome to all the beautiful Greek islands ...

The ancient holy island of Delos is a vast archaeological site. For many centuries it was the religious centre of Greece. It was the centre of the circle of the Cyclades islands and the birthplace of Greek legends Apollo and Artemis.

The Greek island of Siros on the other hand is the modern administrative, commercial and cultural centre of the Cyclades. The Hora, full of fine neo-classical buildings, old mansions, marble squares and magnificent churches, is built amphitheatrically up the hillsides around the port. The hills and the valleys provide variety in the scenery, alternating between cultivated fields, orchards and brush. Beautiful locations and scenic beaches sum up the island. The Greek Dodecanese islands are located south of Samos and Fourni, east of the Cyclades, east of Asia Minor, and north-east of Crete. It is an enchanted world where the sun paints pictures and the sea gives life. The mild winters and refreshing summers give the Dodecanese one of the healthiest climates in the Mediterranean. Crete, the main city ports like that at the port town of Hania, built on top of ancient Kydonia, picturesque Rethimno, Iraklio, cosmopolitan Agios Nikolaos and beautiful Sitia

The Ionian Islands Zakynthos, Ithaca, Corfu, Kefallonia, Lefkada, Paxi, and Kythira which is situated opposite the southern Peloponnese (Lakonia), the biggest islands in Ionian Sea, constitute the Eptanissa.

The routes of the olive tree

“The Routes of the Olive Tree” is a cultural travelogue that was established through the initiative of the Messinia Chamber of Commerce in 1999. It was continued with routes to 22 Mediterranean and European olive oil-producing countries, while it was recognized as a World Cultural Route. It should be noted that “The Routes of the Olive Tree” was even able to open the closed Algerian-Morocco border.

It is a ramble that symbolically begins every year from Nestor’s Palace in Ancient Pylos, where clay tablets of Linear B script was discovered, with the ideogram of the olive tree, and continues by road around the Mediterranean to draw closer the people of the Mediterranean – the people of the olive tree. The olive tree that embraces them, and has fed them for centuries and today opens new communication links through the trails of its own culture and its own history. This is an endeavor to promote the culture of the olive tree and the timeless value of olive oil-based products for mankind internationally through cultural events and other activities inspired by the history of the olive tree and its future, which plans to create viable conditions for the development of the olive-oil producing regions.

“The Routes of the Olive Tree” was recognized by UNESCO in 2003 as the “2nd Cultural Route in the World” and by the Council of Europe in 2005 as the “Great European Cultural Route”.

Mykonos is the cosmopolitan centre of the Cyclades. Its low rocky hills slope down to enchanting golden beaches. Grey-green boulders sprout prickly pears and windmills. Despite the dazzling light the summers are refreshing. One can find beaches that are almost empty. White-washed cube-shaped houses are scattered about. In the narrow streets of the town chapels and picturesque tavernas hide among folk art shops and stores selling jewellery and furs. Trends that will sweep the international scene are born in the intense nightlife of this modern resort.
This island is just the beginning of your island hop tour by, relatively cheap, safe
and 'laid back' ferry or Superfast cat!

An introduction to all the Greek islands ...
and way of life

The largest Greek island town in the group is Rhodes, also known as the island of the Sun. The capital, the City of Rhodes, is like a valuable coin with two faces. One face is the old town, a fairy-tale place surrounded by medieval walls and traversed by the Street of the Knights of St. John. On either side of the road is the old town with the 'Inns', the Hospital of the Knights and the Palace of the Grand Master. The other face is the modern city with intense nightlife, broad streets, beautiful buildings, large hotels and hundreds of shops where anything can be found. Rhodes Is also quite close to Turkey!
