I Started my present business idea around 1999 - designing, publishing the websites and coordinating worldwide holidays, for real people who wanted something different and /or genuine 'Local People' experience. The first travel and villa sites were online before most of the 'big guys' had decided the internet was worth thinking about.
I love the Greek Islands and the Greek mentality/philosophy.
Hoping to have created my 25th website this year - with Links to 30 local coordinators.
'Local people Worldwide' (My Trade Mark)
I have always enjoyed travel and agree with the phrase:
'The kindness of strangers' Most people I have met, when in the Travel trade or simply travelling 'On the road'. have really been the friendliest people and usually the most Fun people!

So many new resorts
spoil an area rather than compliment it.
Obliterate rather than enhance...
A 'perfect place' is found and then they send in the
concrete.
Everywhere is covered in concrete buildings that are
usually 'functional'
(Short sighted cost saving)
Huge tracks of natural beach, healthy sea bathing and
children's favourite memory - rock pools, are changed with hard paved walkways,
big enough for giants to walk in pairs!
All areas being controlled by squared and harsh
concrete edges.
Swimming pools and infinity pools are man-made, along
with plastic grass or 'efficient' green carpets are rolled out, to look like
the original, with plastic palm trees and encapsulated flower areas.
(Concrete/bright yellow brick?)
All projects should work with nature not against it -
the Philippines
is a perfect example. The Philippine islands has literally 1000's of perfect
places that have started to be changed into concrete perfect places - however
the government there
is just starting to realise that land & marine
nature is the biggest attraction not a concrete jungle of miss-matched tourist
eateries and hotels - the size of small cities.
Given the tourism resources of the Philippines,
Boracay was a perfect place,
that just needed more basic infrastructure
(Environment/ human needs)
but after a couple of Hollywood stars went to see
this paradise, along with damage after an unusual storm, it has now been
decided to turn it into a tourist city...
As I have said in this example, there are 1000's of
naturally 'perfect' places in the world that just require basic needs services
- Blended (Disguised) within the existing natural beauty and authentic
landscape.
